Unilamp, a premium outdoor lighting manufacturer from Thailand, recently presented an exclusive Unilamp Factory Tour, offering a behind-the-scenes look at how its high-quality luminaires are produced from start to finish.
The tour highlighted Unilamp’s journey since 1993, when the company began with a vision to provide advanced outdoor lighting solutions for the domestic market before expanding globally. Today, Unilamp is recognized for premium outdoor lighting products that combine durability, performance, design flexibility, and sustainability.
During the tour, Unilamp’s founder, Mr. Chokchai, shared the company’s belief that lighting is more than illumination. According to Unilamp, light can transform how people feel, live, and experience their surroundings.
Unilamp products are designed to last for decades, not years, and are supported by international certifications and standards, including IEC standards, DarkSky requirements, CE marking, ENEC listing, VDE certification, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, IEC 60598, CB Test, TIS, BIS, SNI, and Green Industry certification.
The factory tour began at Unilamp Factory 1, where visitors explored the mold and die-casting section. Unilamp’s in-house design and manufacturing capabilities allow the company to maintain full control over product quality while supporting project customization through UniModification.
This flexibility enables Unilamp to support various project requirements, including:
Unilamp also uses LM6 premium-grade aluminum alloy, helping each luminaire achieve strong thermal performance and long-term durability.
The tour continued to the machining section, where die-cast components are refined using high-precision laser cutting machines. This process ensures each part meets tight dimensional tolerances while supporting UniModification for project-specific requirements.
A key highlight was Unilamp’s ability to create intricate custom designs through UniModification, such as traditional Thai Kanok patterns, directly into aluminum extrusion without compromising structural strength or durability.

One of the most important parts of the tour was the painting section, where Unilamp introduced UniShield16, its 16-stage premium coating process.
UniShield16 is designed to improve corrosion resistance, surface reliability, color consistency, and long-term outdoor performance. The process includes degreasing, RO water rinsing, deoxidizing, nano-ceramic coating, DI water rinsing, air blowing, dry-off oven treatment, primer coating, curing, top coating, and final curing.
The coating is also aligned with Unilamp’s sustainability approach because it uses non-toxic chromate-free technology, making it safer for the environment while maintaining strong protection in harsh outdoor conditions.
Unilamp demonstrated several coating quality tests during the factory tour, including cross-cut testing, bending testing, chemical resistance testing, and coating thickness testing.
The UniShield16 coating forms a protective layer of approximately 120 microns, helping protect luminaires from coastal salt, industrial pollution, and extreme UV exposure.
Incoming materials are also inspected before entering production. Unilamp follows internationally recognized acceptance sampling standards to ensure that only approved components move forward in the manufacturing process.

At Unilamp Factory 2, the tour moved to the assembly section. This is where approved components are assembled into complete luminaires.
Every process follows strict work instructions, including LED module installation, wiring, sealing, and inspection. Unilamp uses robot-applied outdoor-grade silicone to seal luminaires against moisture, dust, and insects.
The assembly process also includes an air leak test to confirm that water cannot enter the luminaire, helping protect the IP rating and extend product lifespan.
Unilamp also showcased its laser marking process, which permanently engraves important product information directly onto the luminaire. This replaces stickers that may fade or peel over time.
The company also uses a humidity control room to prevent moisture from entering luminaires during production. This is especially important for products used in high-humidity regions and supports Unilamp’s commitment to long-lasting, low-maintenance outdoor lighting.
Before any product leaves the factory, Unilamp conducts complete final product testing. Every luminaire is individually inspected to confirm safety, performance, and durability.
The tour also introduced CETUS, one of Unilamp’s flagship luminaires, featuring UniShield16 coating, UniBreath pressure equalization, and UniBlock protection for wiring durability in wet or submerged environments.
For underwater luminaires, Unilamp performs a 48-hour full submersion test to verify waterproof performance and IP rating before shipment.

Another highlight of the Unilamp Factory Tour was UniLab, the company’s in-house advanced testing facility. UniLab is certified by ISO/IEC 17025 from ILAC-MRA and NAC standards.
The facility performs seven key luminaire tests:
These tests verify that Unilamp luminaires can perform safely and reliably in real-world environments, including coastal, industrial, humid, and high-temperature conditions.

The final stage of the factory tour focused on packaging and delivery. Unilamp uses its UniLock packaging system, which is custom-designed to fit each product securely while reducing empty space and minimizing packaging material.
The company also chooses recyclable materials to support its UniGreen concept. Once packed and labeled, Unilamp luminaires are prepared for delivery across Thailand and to global clients.
